For anyone who detests war, with all of its devastation, destruction of human life and property, and the hatred that is created (often lasting for generations), I would like to suggest an excellent book. The title is War is a Racket, and it was written by Smedley Darlington Butler, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. Butler not only gives great insight into the primary reasons wars are fought, he provides graphic examples of the enormous corporate and banking profits realized during times of war.
My brother wrote a play about Smedley Butler, “Patriotic Duty.”

That’s pretty impressive. I know Butler made a few folks mad with War is a Racket, but it is a very good read — and very eye-opening.

He produced the play in Boston in the early 1990s. Several celebrities were interested in playing Smedley Butler (James Caan, Tony Randall, and Kris Kristofferson were three whom remembered), but they could not work it into their schedules, so he had a local actor do it.

The three actors you mentioned are pretty impressive. It also indicates they were well informed. Unfortunately, I would be willing to bet most people have never heard of Smedley Butler.
